Producer Description

The beginnings of Santa Ema date back to the opening of the 20th century, when don Pedro Pavone Voglino, an Italian immigrant, sportsperson and businessman, discovered a great terroir in Isla de Maipo, the place where our head offices are still operating today. The founder and his son, Fe9lix Pavone Arbea, an entrepreneur of great vision, began in 1956 a winemaking business called Vinos Santa Ema. They equipped it with state of the art industrial infrastructure for developing and managing bottled wines of high quality. As of then, Santa Ema has opened its doors to Chile and the world, starting its exports in a solid and uninterrupted growth process, reaching today more than 30 countries. If anything characterizes the spirit, mission and vision of Vinos Santa Ema, today in the hands of the 4th generation of the Pavone Family, that is the complete and constant commitment to the following fundamental principles:Respect for the human beingThis is made manifest through a considerate treatment and open-door policies towards our workers, which has allowed us to always work as an efficient and united team.Quality firstThis is at the very base of our wines' excellency and our main goal. Always searching to improve the productive processes.Care for the environmentWe have incorporated the most demanding quality certifications in our productive operations as well as severe safety and sustainability procedures.Passion for what we doThis expresses itself in the personality of our wines as well as in the stability of the relations with our suppliers, distributors and our community.

NOTES OF

SCENT & FLAVOR

COLOR

Deep colour, almost opaque.

NOSE

Aroma of excellent complexity, with wild bush and spicy notes like curry, pepper and ginger, red berries and black fruits mixed with a light cacao touch, the result of a good maturation, along with a slightly stony finish.

PALATE

On the palate it has a powerful attack, with a lively acidity, firm and well present tannins, wild bush and red berry notes, with an extremely long finish and great concentration.

“Thanks to the characteristics and potential of the vineyards at Quinta do Seixo, it was possible to cut through the strong maturations of this year's harvest. As a result, we produced very balanced and robust wines, with aromatic notes typical of more mature years.” - Luís Sottomayor, head of Sogrape's winemaking

ORIGINS

Quinta do Seixo Vintage is a unique expression of this renowned estate, where a combination of soil, slope inclination, sun exposure and reduced amount of available water contribute to the production of intense and complex wines. The 100-year-old vines producing Port create wines full of intensity, character and freshness.
