Product Description

The port cask finish gives the whiskey a silky sweet taste of vine fruits, which combine with the honey and spice from the bourbon matured malt whiskey.

Brand Description

The legend of The Tyrconnell was born in 1876, when R.M. Delamere entered his chestnut colt, Tyrconnell, in the prestigious National Product Stakes horse race. Fortune found favor with Delamere that afternoon, as Tyrconnell bested horses and oddsmakers alike on his march to victory. The surprise victory captured the imagination of the assembled crowd, which included the Watts, a local family who had built a thriving whiskey distillery. They chose to commemorate the occasion by creating a limited edition, small batch whiskey that bore the name of their local champion. Although the Watts intended to make The Tyrconnell just once, it ended up becoming their most popular whiskey. Before Prohibition, The Tyrconnell was claimed to be the best selling Irish whiskey. Today, the brand is maintained by the Kilbeggan Distilling Company, proud protectors of the Irish whiskey making traditions. Each bottle bears the same commemorative label celebrating Tyrconnell's triumph

NOTES OF

SCENT & FLAVOR

COLOR

Deep colour, almost opaque.

NOSE

Aroma of excellent complexity, with wild bush and spicy notes like curry, pepper and ginger, red berries and black fruits mixed with a light cacao touch, the result of a good maturation, along with a slightly stony finish.

PALATE

On the palate it has a powerful attack, with a lively acidity, firm and well present tannins, wild bush and red berry notes, with an extremely long finish and great concentration.

“Thanks to the characteristics and potential of the vineyards at Quinta do Seixo, it was possible to cut through the strong maturations of this year's harvest. As a result, we produced very balanced and robust wines, with aromatic notes typical of more mature years.” - Luís Sottomayor, head of Sogrape's winemaking
