Product Description

SIMI Sonoma County Pinot Noir Red Wine offers an aromatic bouquet of ripe red fruit, spice, and orange peel, complemented by bright acidity, supple tannins, and minerality on the finish.

Brand Description

From a winery started by two brothers who immigrated from Italy in the mid-1800s, later passed down to Giuseppe's 18-year-old daughter Isabelle Simi who became a female pioneer in the wine industry, leading the business through prohibition, SIMI is now one of Sonoma's longest-standing institutions. 'Wine is all about the nose, and putting it to the grindstone.' Isabelle Simi knew this better than anyone. She steered the winery with defiant determination for over 70 years, persevering to better every last drop. In fact, in 1920, when the government threw down a deadly blow, in the form of Prohibition, she didn't give up. She rolled up her sleeves and applied her wit. She held strong. And came out even stronger in the end. Great wine begins in the vineyard, which is why SIMI made its home in the heart of the spectacular Sonoma County over 140 years ago. Our specialized and diverse Alexander Valley and Russian River Valley vineyards allow us to craft a remarkable range of wines, from powerful, nuanced Cabernet Sauvignons to cool, elegant Chardonnays

NOTES OF

SCENT & FLAVOR

COLOR

Deep colour, almost opaque.

NOSE

Aroma of excellent complexity, with wild bush and spicy notes like curry, pepper and ginger, red berries and black fruits mixed with a light cacao touch, the result of a good maturation, along with a slightly stony finish.

PALATE

On the palate it has a powerful attack, with a lively acidity, firm and well present tannins, wild bush and red berry notes, with an extremely long finish and great concentration.

“Thanks to the characteristics and potential of the vineyards at Quinta do Seixo, it was possible to cut through the strong maturations of this year's harvest. As a result, we produced very balanced and robust wines, with aromatic notes typical of more mature years.” - Luís Sottomayor, head of Sogrape's winemaking

ORIGINS

Quinta do Seixo Vintage is a unique expression of this renowned estate, where a combination of soil, slope inclination, sun exposure and reduced amount of available water contribute to the production of intense and complex wines. The 100-year-old vines producing Port create wines full of intensity, character and freshness.
