From a winery started by two brothers who emigrated from Italy in the mid 1800's, later passed down to Giuseppe's 18-year-old daughter Isabelle Simi who became a female pioneer in the wine industry, leading the business through prohibition, SIMI now is one of Sonoma's longest-standing institutions. "Wine is all about the nose, and putting it to the grindstone." Isabelle Simi knew this better than anyone. She steered the winery with defiant determination for more than 70 years, persevering to better every last drop. In fact, in 1920, when the government threw down a deadly blow in the form of Prohibition, she didn't give up. She rolled up her sleeves and applied her wit. SCENT & FLAVOR
COLOR
Deep colour, almost opaque.
NOSE
Aroma of excellent complexity, with wild bush and spicy notes like curry, pepper and ginger, red berries and black fruits mixed with a light cacao touch, the result of a good maturation, along with a slightly stony finish.
PALATE
On the palate it has a powerful attack, with a lively acidity, firm and well present tannins, wild bush and red berry notes, with an extremely long finish and great concentration.
