Our Napa Valley Chardonnay was fermented in a combination of temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and French and American oak barrels. Our stainless steel fermentation process allows us to preserve the fruit's natural lush flavors and aromatic qualities. Fermentation in oak barrel, sur lies, then imparts richness and a creamy texture to the mid palate, creating a complex yet elegantly balanced Chardonnay.This is a deliciously versatile wine to be enjoyed as an ape9ritif or paired with chicken and grilled fish entre9es, creamy vegetable soups or your favorite selection of cheeses.Aromas & Flavors: Comforting notes of baked apple pie with toasted oak notes of caramel and spice. Opens up to reveal mineral and fruity aromas including ripe Asian pear, dried apricot and white peach. A full-bodied wine with bright acidity, suffusing oak flavors show as vanilla and sweet-oak through to the palate. Finishes with a hint of lemon meringue pie.
Rutherford Ranch Winery is on the site of the original Round Hill Winery that was founded in 1978 by Ernie Van Asperen, Virginia Van Asperen and Charlie Abela. When the Van Asperens retired in 2000, Marko and Theo Zaninovich, long-time shareholders with the Van Asperen family, acquired the winery. The estate vineyards were replanted with superior vines and the winery and tasting room have since undergone significant renovations.Yet, the estate's 100-year-old olive grove and unpretentious charm remain essentially unchanged.
