Rozès was founded in Bordeaux in 1855, by Ostende Rozès, a fine wine dealer who started by importing and marketing Port Wines. His son, Edmond Rozès, created the brand "Porto Rozès", choosing at the same time a "Portuguese bottle shape" that would simultaneously allow the brand and port to be identified. Rozès was the first Port Wine exporting group to settle in the Douro Valley, one of the oldest AOC in the world (demarcated in 1756) and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. Rozès has a centuries-old history linked to the Douro and its reputation is based on our constant concern for expressing the full intensity, richness and complexity of our wines. All the vines in the Rozès vineyard are A-rated, the best quality on a A to F scale. Quinta de Monsul, a Rozès estate in the Douro Valley, has ultra modern facilities used for the entire winemaking process. After grapes picking, pellicular maceration occurs in "lagares" (shallow treading tanks) and then alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The key step for the elaboration of port wines is the interruption of fermentation by the addition of a neutral distilled grape spirit at 77% ABV. Rozès produces red & white ports, vintage, tawny or old ports, blends of selected wines & selected harvests. They are sold once they're approved and get certification from IVDP (Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto).NOTES OF
SCENT & FLAVOR

COLOR
Deep colour, almost opaque.

NOSE
Aroma of excellent complexity, with wild bush and spicy notes like curry, pepper and ginger, red berries and black fruits mixed with a light cacao touch, the result of a good maturation, along with a slightly stony finish.

PALATE
On the palate it has a powerful attack, with a lively acidity, firm and well present tannins, wild bush and red berry notes, with an extremely long finish and great concentration.
“Thanks to the characteristics and potential of the vineyards at Quinta do Seixo, it was possible to cut through the strong maturations of this year's harvest. As a result, we produced very balanced and robust wines, with aromatic notes typical of more mature years.” - Luís Sottomayor, head of Sogrape's winemaking
