Product Description

2019 with its slightly smaller crops and cool conditions during the ripening period provided wonderfully rich and concentrated Flavors this vintage. As has become the Mulderbosch house style, almost a third of the blend was matured on lees in neutral 500L barrels, contributing richness and texture to the wine. Aromatically the nose is intense, with wonderful grapefruit, lime and blackcurrant notes. The palate bursts with zesty acidity on the entry, releasing waves of vibrant Sauvignon Blanc Flavors. Brand Description

When Mulderbosch founder, Larry Jacobs, bought the farm in 1989 the community referred to the property as 'vuilplasie', Afrikaans for 'dirty little farm'. Shortly after, he partnered with Mike Dobrovic, known as the South African Mr Sauvignon Blanc, and together they cleaned up the property and planted the first vineyards. A (small) cellar was later built and the first set of wines were released: Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The dream was to produce wine, but certainly not just any wine; they had to consistently reflect innovation, creativity and excellence.
Soon, Mulderbosch gained international traction with a growing list of accolades and awards. In 2011, Mulderbosch was ushered into a new era of management, introducing Adam as head of winemaking. These changes ensured further international success and our position as leaders within the South African wine industry.
As an innovator, Mulderbosch was the first producer in the country to successfully create a barrel-fermented style of Chenin Blanc, and so our 'Steen Op Hout' label was born. Trailblazing the infant rosé category with our Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon continued this thread of innovation. Today, Mulderbosch has achieved commercial success world-wide and has affirmed our identity as a producer of distinctive wines, representative of the soils and climate in which our grapes are grown

NOTES OF

SCENT & FLAVOR

COLOR

Deep colour, almost opaque.

NOSE

Aroma of excellent complexity, with wild bush and spicy notes like curry, pepper and ginger, red berries and black fruits mixed with a light cacao touch, the result of a good maturation, along with a slightly stony finish.

PALATE

On the palate it has a powerful attack, with a lively acidity, firm and well present tannins, wild bush and red berry notes, with an extremely long finish and great concentration.

“Thanks to the characteristics and potential of the vineyards at Quinta do Seixo, it was possible to cut through the strong maturations of this year's harvest. As a result, we produced very balanced and robust wines, with aromatic notes typical of more mature years.” - Luís Sottomayor, head of Sogrape's winemaking
