Miami Club Rum was originally produced at the first legal distillery in the history of Miami. The distillery opened in 2011 and is located in the heart of Miami’s famous Wynwood Arts District. Production has moved to a larger facility in Miami. Miami Club is made from sugar cane harvested from local fields. A 2/3 molasses, 1/3 cane juice blend is fermented and double distilled using a family recipe dating back to 1911 in Puerto Rico. The rum is slow aged in French Limousine and American White oak for 2 years while it is simultaneously infused with the music of Miami. Salsa, Samba, and other Caribbean rhythms are played to the rum 24-7 through vintage Bose 901 speakers to activate the barrels for a richer deeper flavor yield. A seven step filtration process follows including among other things, coconut shells, and a secret oxygenation technique used to aerate the spirit. The aroma is vanilla, butterscotch, banana, and oak. The sweet vanilla, marshmallow and tropical fruit entry builds to a banana custard, and caramel peak. It fades with cane sugar, vanilla, molasses, and mineral water. The finish is warm, dry, and peppery with vanilla, oak, salted caramel, anise, and a healthy alcohol sting. Miami Club Rum is a very tasty rum. The finish may be a little raw for some to enjoy as a sipping rum, but Miami Club will mix well in your favorite rum cocktail.
