A wonderful higher-proof gin from Martin Miller, the production of which spans over two countries! Martin Miller gin starts life in England, where it is distilled in just one traditional pot still (named Angela), which was first built in 1898. Here Martin Miller differs from most gin distilleries who use three stills- two to round the edgier heads and tails of a spirit run. Rather than using berry trays and vapour infusion- more or less and industry standard- they allow their botanicals to steep overnight, giving a more authentic flavour, they also distil the citrusy botanicals separately from the earthier spicy botanicals, leading to greater balance. After this process, the gin is shipped to Iceland where it is mixed with ice cold water from Martin Miller’s private spring. This gin is an intensely botanical and citrusy expression with a rich, oily mouth feel. The slightly higher proof gives the flavours a real kick. The Beverage Tasting institute named this the best gin in the world and “Spirit of the Year” back in 2003, with a whopping 97 points out of 100.

NOTES OF

SCENT & FLAVOR

COLOR

Deep colour, almost opaque.

NOSE

Aroma of excellent complexity, with wild bush and spicy notes like curry, pepper and ginger, red berries and black fruits mixed with a light cacao touch, the result of a good maturation, along with a slightly stony finish.

PALATE

On the palate it has a powerful attack, with a lively acidity, firm and well present tannins, wild bush and red berry notes, with an extremely long finish and great concentration.

“Thanks to the characteristics and potential of the vineyards at Quinta do Seixo, it was possible to cut through the strong maturations of this year's harvest. As a result, we produced very balanced and robust wines, with aromatic notes typical of more mature years.” - Luís Sottomayor, head of Sogrape's winemaking

ORIGINS

Quinta do Seixo Vintage is a unique expression of this renowned estate, where a combination of soil, slope inclination, sun exposure and reduced amount of available water contribute to the production of intense and complex wines. The 100-year-old vines producing Port create wines full of intensity, character and freshness.
