Product Description

Warm spicy palette, subtle citrus, herbal, and floral character. Crisp, clean, and approachable even to the casual spirits drinker who thinks they don't like gin.

Brand Description

Loch & Union's story began while Colin Baker was studying for his Master's Degree in Brewing & Distilling at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. His interest in distilling eventually became an obsession, which led to the idea of opening a distillery of his own. The distillery was built in Napa Valley, where there is easy access to seasoned barrels from some of the best wineries in the world, as well as new oak barrels from some of the best cooperages in the world. Napa is a wonderful place to live, and it's in the Bay Area, which is one of the most vibrant and creative distilling/spirit scenes in the world. Colin teamed up with his longtime friend, Matt Meyer, to run the business end of the operation. The two met in 2008 while studying at the London School of Economics, Matt's head for business proved a perfect complement (and sometimes balance) to Colin's creative and technical focus. From then on the pair worked through all the challenges of opening a distillery from permits and licensing, dealing with local governments, construction, fire suppression, etc. etc. etc. It was a lot of work to get the distillery up and running, but the dream was finally realized in 2017!

NOTES OF

SCENT & FLAVOR

COLOR

Deep colour, almost opaque.

NOSE

Aroma of excellent complexity, with wild bush and spicy notes like curry, pepper and ginger, red berries and black fruits mixed with a light cacao touch, the result of a good maturation, along with a slightly stony finish.

PALATE

On the palate it has a powerful attack, with a lively acidity, firm and well present tannins, wild bush and red berry notes, with an extremely long finish and great concentration.

“Thanks to the characteristics and potential of the vineyards at Quinta do Seixo, it was possible to cut through the strong maturations of this year's harvest. As a result, we produced very balanced and robust wines, with aromatic notes typical of more mature years.” - Luís Sottomayor, head of Sogrape's winemaking

ORIGINS

Quinta do Seixo Vintage is a unique expression of this renowned estate, where a combination of soil, slope inclination, sun exposure and reduced amount of available water contribute to the production of intense and complex wines. The 100-year-old vines producing Port create wines full of intensity, character and freshness.
