From a storm-lashed island off the west coast of Scotland comes Laphroaig, a Gaelic word meaning ‘beautiful hollow by the broad bay’. Since 1815, when the distillery was officially founded on Islay, a small team of islanders have combined ancient skills, a dedication to quality and the mystical, peaty water of the Kilbride Stream to create what is considered to be the most distinctive single malt in the world. Laphroaig is an acquired taste for some, an essential taste for many – and for those who embrace it, a friend for life.
Our Càirdeas expression for 2022 reflects how Friends bring out the best in each other. The limited-edition single malt, aged in first-fill Maker’s Mark bourbon barrels, dials up quintessential Laphroaig taste. Classic flavors are elevated by a coastal character that can only come from sea spray and storms. It’s a match made in Islay. Warehouse 1’s rare four-story construction, fluctuating temperature, and exposure to rugged conditions tease out enigmatic flavors and a maritime quality. Bottled at a fixed strength of 52.2% ABV for a memorable experience to share with your Friends.

SCENT & FLAVOR
COLOR
Deep colour, almost opaque.
NOSE
Aroma of excellent complexity, with wild bush and spicy notes like curry, pepper and ginger, red berries and black fruits mixed with a light cacao touch, the result of a good maturation, along with a slightly stony finish.
PALATE
On the palate it has a powerful attack, with a lively acidity, firm and well present tannins, wild bush and red berry notes, with an extremely long finish and great concentration.
