The banana originates from Asia and has spread to Africa and all tropical areas of the world. It was already consumed by the Indians before the arrival, in 1500, of the Portuguese in Brazil. There are more than 1000 varieties of bananas produced locally in the world, it is one of the most consumed fruits in the world. Giffard selects bananas from Brazil and the Caribbean for its premium liqueur.
