Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin is the brainchild of the curious mind of PJ Rigney.Á‚ Throughout the years his travels brought him to the wild and unspoiled landscape of Drumshanbo, Ireland. He created The Shed Distillery of PJ Rigney, with medieval copper pot stills, and began a quest to fuse oriental botanicals with the local Irish ones. As it turned out, they got on very well indeed.

Slow distilled by hand in medieval copper pot stills with oriental botanicals and gunpowder tea, Gunpowder Irish Gin combines 8 pot still botanicals and 4 vapor infused botanicals in the oriental traditions of distilling. The result is a delightfully fresh and rounded up front with citrus, juniper & spicy notes immediately evident.Á‚  The expected juniper follows close behind.Á‚  Gunpowder Tea, meadowsweet & Coriander are all notable.Á‚

The limited edition ceramic bottle features illustrations that tell the brandÁ¢€™s story inspired by the iconic Willow pattern.

NOTES OF

SCENT & FLAVOR

COLOR

Deep colour, almost opaque.

NOSE

Aroma of excellent complexity, with wild bush and spicy notes like curry, pepper and ginger, red berries and black fruits mixed with a light cacao touch, the result of a good maturation, along with a slightly stony finish.

PALATE

On the palate it has a powerful attack, with a lively acidity, firm and well present tannins, wild bush and red berry notes, with an extremely long finish and great concentration.

“Thanks to the characteristics and potential of the vineyards at Quinta do Seixo, it was possible to cut through the strong maturations of this year's harvest. As a result, we produced very balanced and robust wines, with aromatic notes typical of more mature years.” - Luís Sottomayor, head of Sogrape's winemaking

ORIGINS
