Craigellachie has been producing Single Malt Whisky on site since 1891. It is one of the original Speyside Whiskies. The name Craigellachie means "rocky hill" and, sure enough, it’s a Speyside that sits on a rocky hill directly across from The Macallan facility in the township of Aberlour. A majority of their production goes into the famous Dewer’s blend, and only a few Single Malt releases come available. Craigellachie is owned by Bacardi, perhaps not surprisingly through their Dewer’s & Sons subsidiary.
A few years ago, getting your hands on an official Single Malt release of Craigellachie was a rare thing indeed. But the clamoring of fans got the distillery’s attention and they started coming out with regular Single Malt offerings in 2014.
Craigellachie 17 Year Old is a stellar, perfectly aged example of Craigellachie Single Malt with a rich, meaty flavor profile. This superior dram is delivered at a perfect 46% ABV.
